The Moomins are the central characters in a series of novels, short stories, and comic strips by Finnish writer and illustrator, Tove Jansson, originally published between 1945 and 1993. Beloved by generations, the fairy-tale troll family with rounded snouts and their friends live in the make-believe Moominvalley. Friends include the characters, Hemulens, Sniff, Snufkin, and Little My. The Moomins have been the basis for numerous television series, films, and two theme parks in Naantali, Finland and Saitama, Japan.
