Following a year filled with unprecedented change, the 2017 hurricane season unveiled a new political storm encompassing every issue from race, socio-political inequality to climate change.
Hurricanes Irma and Maria were the biggest storms we have seen in an unprecedented back-to-back path of destruction.
The Caribbean, typically seen under the guise of pristine beaches and vacationing, is a place of rich culture and Pre-Columbian history with unique art, music, food, and fashion that varies from island to island.
Despite the differences in cultural background, an unwritten unity exists across the islands. In this time of crisis, we need to call on this unity to help those who are not receiving the aid they so desperately need.
In an effort to raise funds and draw attention to the crisis still at hand, Forgotten Lands, features the works from a range of emerging and established Caribbean artists. This diverse group of artists reflects the environmental, political and socio-cultural diversity present across the regions.
