Craft and Virtual Reality: Where Design Meets Technology

Join Umber Magazine and the Heath Newsstand for a conversation exploring Virtual Reality: its relationship to craft, design, and communication. To start, we’re dusting off an article from Umber’s Tactile Relationship Issue, illuminating the connection between designed reality and physical reality — how it impacts identity, and the manifestation of self — where it adds value and where its technology falls short.

Anthropologist and VR-expert, Monika Jo joins Mike Nicholls, Umber’s Founder, in conversation with Heath’s Experience Design Manager, as we demystify Virtual Reality and consider its current and future applications in the realm of physical experience — all this with a design and manufacturing slant, of course.

We'll swing open the factory door at 6:00 pm to welcome you with bites from Tartine and beers from Fort Point. The talk and Q&A will run from 6:30-7:30 and we'll wrap up by 8 pm.
